So this is my second attempt at
French Fridays with Dorie and this was definitely a bit more challenging! I am not particularly fond of rare meat and so in an attempt to cook the steak a bit longer I'm afraid I overdid it. The beautiful thing was that the Steak being Filet Mignon was still very tender and really delicious! I enjoyed the cognac sauce as well and served this with simple oven roasted potatoes. This dish felt quite fancy and we enjoyed every bite!
Your steak is still pink inside- that's what I like! Do I see a Starry Night painting under your plate? Is that a place mat? I want one! Nice job with this recipe.
ReplyDeleteHeather, I really don't think you overdid it, as the meat still looked very pink and tender inside. The important thing is you guys enjoyed the meal! Hope you're having fun in the cooking group!
ReplyDeleteI think that a little over done when it comes to meat is a great idea. Yours looks really good.
ReplyDeleteIt still looks like you have plenty of pink inside and your cream sauce looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteMmm, it looks just like the photo in the book!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look overdone to me. It looks PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteIf you liked it - that's what matters! And it still looks like it has that perfect pink hue. So, I bet it was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove your picture; my steak was also more of a 'medium'. Is that a Starry NIght placemat? AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteYours looks just gorgeous to me. And so good I am not even showing my guys or they would be jealous :) Great job and I agree that the results looked "very fancy"...which is not what I usually serve for dinner :)
ReplyDeleteI like the color of your steak, it looks rare and cooked just the way I like it;-)
ReplyDeleteI agree this steak with the sauce is a special meal;-)
Nice job, Heather! Your filet doesn't look overcooked at all. I don't think I could eat it less rare :)
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect!! It has a beautiful color!! Glad you enjoyed it! Very nice photo!
ReplyDeleteIt looks perfectly medium-rare to me. I think potatoes are a great side for this. I'll leave the frites for le hamburger, personally!
